Engineering Brief

The MIFARE SAM AV3 is a CC EAL6+ certified secure access module built on NXP's SmartMX2 P60 controller, designed as a security add-on for contactless reader devices. It supports comprehensive cryptography (DES, TDEA, AES-128/192/256, RSA up to 2048-bit, ECC up to 256-bit) with proven interoperability across all NXP's MIFARE, NTAG DNA, ICODE DNA, and UCODE DNA product families. The module features Programmable Logic (up to 32 kB) for custom business logic, X-mode high-speed communication with compatible reader ICs, and secure host-to-SAM communication via AES or RSA-based protocols. Available in wafer, HVQFN32 (with optional I2C slave interface), and PCM1.5 contact module form factors, it operates from -25°C to +85°C across Class A/B/C supply voltages (1.62V–5.5V) with ISO/IEC 7816 contact interface and supports baud rates up to 1.5 Mbit/s.
