Engineering Brief
NTAG 223 DNA is an NFC Forum Type 2 compliant IC featuring 144 bytes of user memory and advanced security with AES-128-based Secure Unique NFC (SUN) message authentication. The IC automatically mirrors UID, NFC counter, and CMAC into NDEF messages for real-time authentication and integrity protection. It includes an ECC-based originality signature (customizable and lockable), 32-bit password protection, automatic tap counter, and operates at 13.56 MHz with 106 kbit/s data transfer. Delivered as bump wafer (120 µm or 75 µm), it targets anti-counterfeiting, supply chain tracking, and secure IoT applications with Common Criteria EAL3+ certification.
Typical Applications
- Advanced anti-counterfeiting protection
- Supply chain visibility and grey market control
- Augmented user experiences with tap-unique content
- Automated authentication of NFC-tagged consumables
- Secure IoT device identification and authentication
- Product authentication and brand protection
