Engineering Brief

The Magnus-S3 M3E is a passive UHF RFID sensor IC operating at 860–960 MHz with integrated temperature and RSSI sensing. It achieves battery-free operation with -18.7 dBm read sensitivity and -14.4 dBm write sensitivity, fully compliant with EPC Gen2 v2.0.1 and ISO/IEC 18000-6C. The chip includes a calibrated 12-bit temperature sensor (±0.5°C accuracy at 30°C), 5-bit RSSI code, and standard RFID memory (128-bit EPC, 128-bit user, 64-bit unique TID). Available in bumped die (910 µm × 760 µm) or compact 1.6 mm QFN package, it supports extended temperature operation from -40°C to +85°C with 10-year data retention and 10,000 write/erase cycles.
