Engineering Brief

The Magnus-S3 M3D is a fully passive UHF RFID sensor IC featuring three on-chip sensors: temperature (12-bit code, ±0.5°C accuracy at 30°C), adaptive RF impedance (SENSOR CODE 0–511 for moisture/proximity), and RSSI (0–31 codes). Its patented Chameleon self-tuning front-end automatically adapts antenna matching across 860–960 MHz to compensate for environmental detuning (moisture, metal proximity), maintaining read sensitivity of -16.6 dBm. The chip supports 10,000 write cycles, 10-year data retention, and comes in both bumped die and tiny 1.6×1.6 mm QFN packages for low-cost, battery-free sensor deployments.
