Engineering Brief

The EM4102 is a read-only 125 kHz LF RFID chip with 64 bits of factory laser-programmed memory. It is powered entirely by an external coil in an electromagnetic field and transmits data via load modulation using Manchester, Biphase, or PSK encoding at 64, 32, or 16 RF cycles per data bit. The chip integrates a full-wave rectifier, resonance capacitor (78 pF), supply buffer capacitor, and voltage limiter, requiring only an external coil (~20.8 mH for 125 kHz) to function. It is designed for animal identification and industrial transponder applications with ultra-low power consumption and very small die size suitable for implantation.

Typical Applications

  • Animal implantable transponder
  • Animal ear tag
  • Industrial transponder
  • Contactless identification
