Engineering Brief
The HITAG 1 is a 125 kHz passive LF transponder with 2 Kbit EEPROM memory organized in 64 pages, supporting both proximity (~200 mm) and long-range (~1000 mm) operation. It features a proprietary protocol with anticollision capability, cryptographic authentication using 32-bit keys and logdata, and configurable memory access controls (read/write, read-only, secret/public areas). Standard and Advanced protocol modes are supported, with the Advanced mode providing enhanced CRC protection on tag-to-reader transmissions.
Typical Applications
- Access control systems
- Vehicle immobilizers
- Proximity identification
- Long-range RFID (up to ~1000 mm)
- Secure read/write applications with anticollision
- Livestock and asset tracking (within Philips Field of Use)
