Engineering Brief

The SL2S3003/SL2S3003TT (ICODE 3) is NXP's next-generation 13.56 MHz vicinity label IC fully backward-compatible with SLIX 2, offering ISO/IEC 15693 compliance with extended NFC features and enhanced security. Key improvements include SELFAdjust RF optimization, fast read up to 212 kbit/s, 2.4 kbit user memory with flexible segmentation, 24-bit configurable counter (command-based or NFC auto-increment), ASCII mirror for UID/counter/TagTamper data, and ECC-based 32-byte or 48-byte originality signature. The SL2S3003TT variant adds TagTamper detection with current and stored status (DP/GND pads for tamper wire). Security features include multi-level 32-bit password protection (Read, Write, Privacy, Destroy, EAS/AFI, Config), 64-bit password mode, two privacy modes, persistent quiet mode, and comprehensive lock mechanisms. Delivered as bumped wafer (120 μm, 675×635 μm die, 23.5 pF internal capacitance), it targets anti-counterfeiting, supply chain integrity, NFC consumer engagement, and tamper-evident packaging with operating range up to 1.5 m and 50-year data retention.
