Engineering Brief

The NXP UCODE 7 (SL3S1204) is a leading-edge EPC Gen2 UHF RFID chip optimized for retail and fashion inventory management. It delivers best-in-class RF performance with -21 dBm read sensitivity and -16 dBm write sensitivity, enabling long read ranges and fast inventorying of dense tag populations. Key features include factory pre-serialization of the 96-bit EPC, parallel encoding (100 tags in 60 ms), a Tag Power Indicator for optimized encoding, and a Product Status Flag for EAS applications. Available in wafer form (8" and 12", standard or large pads) and SOT886 package, with broadband design for worldwide regulatory compliance.

Typical Applications

  • Retail and fashion apparel tagging (clothing, footwear, jewelry, cosmetics)
  • Inventory management with dense tag populations
  • Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) via Product Status Flag
  • Supply chain management and loss prevention
  • Fast bulk encoding (parallel encoding: 100 items in 60 ms)
  • Global RFID label manufacturing (broadband 840–960 MHz)
